Movie tickets are still $10, but the popcorn and soda are only a buck

While it's not as cheap as "the good old days" when you could buy a theater ticket, Coke, and popcorn all for a nickel, Carmike Cinemas is lowering the prices of soda and popcorn to $1 each starting March 10... A rare move, considering theaters earn most of their revenue through concessions.

Although movie attendance is up 17% this year over the same period in 2008, weeknight attendance is sluggish. Carmike hopes cheaper refreshments will lure new customers.
