By Daily Crux Editor Brian Hunt:

A tip of the cap to my friend David Galland of Casey Research. He recently recommended I read a book that deals with:

- One of the greatest gold heists in history...
- How it resulted in one of the largest civil settlement in U.S. judicial history...
- Real life Indiana Jones stuff...
- Why the authors worried about being murdered for looking into the story...

The book is called Gold Warriors: America's Secret Recovery of Yamashita's Gold. It's a great read on how the Japanese looted all of Asia in the early 20th century... then buried the wealth throughout Japan and the Philippines. There are some incredible chapters in this book... some incredible claims. Even if just half of them are true, it's one of the greatest historical events you've never heard of. (You can buy the book here.)

You can get the "quick and dirty" from this Chalmers Johnson review of the book. Johnson is the author of several solid books, Blowback: The Costs and Consequences of American Empire and Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic.

More recommended reading from the Crux:

The week's must read magazine article

Diamonds are one of the great scams in modern history

This book is quickly becoming one of the all-time great "get rich" books
