Put away the Ramen noodles and pick up a nice, steamed lobster...

Lobster is a food associated with oppoulence and celebration, and people haven't felt like celebrating recently. Restaurant demand for the crustacean is down 30% to 35% - much more than the 10% to 15% drop for other seafood. And a collapse in the largest lender to Canadian lobster processors has compounded the fall in demand.

Add to the list a record number of lobsters being caught, and you can understand why prices have dropped from a peak of $10 a pound to a miniscule $2.25 today.
