One of the stranger stock market patterns is the tendency for stocks to do well when Congress is out of session... and for stocks to struggle when Congress is in session.

Studies have shown that more than 90% of the capital gains over the life of the Dow Industrials have come when Congress is out of session. Maybe investors just naturally feel better when the idiots are back home instead of fiddling with the controls.
