A new study suggest individuals who don't get enough sleep are much more likely to develop diabetes. During the six-year study period, people who slept less than six hours per night were almost five times more likely to develop abnormal blood sugar levels than those who got a full night's rest.

Inadequate sleep has also been associated with increased risk of obesity, depression, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, and even falls in older adults. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most adults should get between seven and nine hours of sleep each night.

Making a small effort to get more sleep may go a long way toward keeping you healthy...
