Angie's List says it catalogs reviews written by its user base of 750,000 subscribers on contractors and handymen in more than 400 categories. A $23 subscription gives you two years of access to the website.

After estimates for the damage done by a tree to my home in Augusta seemed too high, I thought I'd try the service. From my computer in Maryland and within hours, I found a guy who went by my house, sent me an estimate for his job, recommended someone else (also on the site) for the tree removal, and completed the tasks in a few days for 50% of what others wanted.

Angie's List saved me hundreds of dollars.
