I used to adore the opinion page of The New York Times. Whatever was printed there had to be the closest thing to the gospel truth handed down since Paul got knocked on his arse while heading to Damascus. I assumed only the smartest people were allowed to preach from the media world’s most hallowed pulpit.
But over the past few years, I’ve entered rehab. I’m now a recovering liberal. And as part of my Twelve Step program to stay sober on matters of politics -- and particularly on the politics of energy – I now regard much of the Times’ opinion page as little more than The Land of Make Believe for grownups.
The Times reached the acme (or is it the nadir?) of unreality on Sunday when it published two pieces on energy issues: one by Al Gore and the other by Thomas Friedman.
